It’s been less than a day since I applied for every available vacancy at Argos Head Office.
The automated reply to each application stated that:
A member of our team will aim to respond within 2 weeks to advise you whether we will be progressing your application. Please be advised that initial contact may be made through your email address.
And so I was surprised when I saw an email in my inbox just now relating to my application for the Reporting Analyist role (Ref:ARG3168-951).
Imagine my disappointment, however, when I clicked on the email only to read:
Dear James,
Thank you for your recent application for the position of Reporting Analyst in Milton Keynes.
The details of your application have been reviewed, but it is with regret that I write to inform you that on this occasion, you have been unsuccessful.
We hope that the decision made on this occasion will not deter you from applying for similar positions which may arise in the future.
Yours sincerely
Toni Weston
Resourcing Assistant
If I’m totally honest, this was one of the jobs I didn’t really think I’d be likely to get. It’s a business support role, creating reports and analysing data. I don’t really have any experience doing that sort of thing.
Oh well. Toni is right though, I’m not going to let the decision made on this occasion deter me from applying for similar positions which may arise in the future. Quite the opposite in fact. It’s made me more determined than ever before.
never a full moment in the life of ward.
