Inspired by your wearing a tie — every single day — in 2016, I am going to pitch something into the trash every single day — declutter. (Not that there is much: I am not a hoarder. But, two, will the clearing be noticeable at the end of the year?)
I will not photograph the item, but record it in a (hopefully) 365-line list.
I am now up to 1,378 items — some days I pitch 60+ things (had to decide to clump things that are intensely similar rather than boringly stretch them at one per day). As an artist who (among other things I do) asks people to draw things. I scan the drawings and then am able to pitch them.
The items each have a short (or long) obit. Have decided to turn it into my 7th book. I do not expect the same success with sales as my The Pocket Lint Chronicles which sold over 350 copies. Nowadays, I offer it to people to look at and they one step back, without moving.
Sample. January 9th, 2017 – Over-sized bubble wrap packing sheet that surrounded 40 sheets of Arches Bright White watercolour paper, 140lb, Hot Pressed. In 1976, I gave an envelope to John (my partner) marked, Open In Case of Extreme Boredom. In it was a sheet of small-sized bubblewrap, eager for popping. We came across it 30 years later, the envelope crispy dry, dusty, but still unopened.
I thoroughly enjoyed your Blog and find this ‘exhibit’ to be a hilarious commentary on selfies! I’m a PhD candidate studying Boredom from a cross-cultural perspective, comparing the Anglo and Russian worlds and look forward to attending your conferences in the future.
Thank goodness for thumbs, eh?

Interesting 😀
When I asked my husband what flavor Slushie he had, he said “blue”. Does it taste blue?
Very blue.
Think I’ll try a purple one.
